Brett is an utterly unique talent whose ability as a mimic, practical business knowledge and powerful delivery are guaranteed to both entertain and inform.

Brett Rutledge is the youngest person to win the World Champion of Public Speaking and one of just 5 outside North America. International competitors in the World Championships and even other World Champions regularly ask Brett for advice and coaching to assist them in their own aspirations and many use Brett as an example of a gifted communicator who is both different and genuine.

The World Championship is, however, just a small part of Brett’s experience.  His entrepreneurial spirit has seen him in business since he was 18 and he has gathered a wealth of experience in Human Resources, Sales, Strategic Marketing and Organisational Culture as well as degrees and awards in many of the same subjects.  That experience has seen Brett employed in senior consultancy roles with many of Australia and New Zealand’s most successful companies.

Today, Brett is recognised as one of the most skilled and versatile communicators in the southern hemisphere and is heavily in demand as a dynamic business speaker, facilitator and coach.

His communication skills and abilities are so honed and nuanced that Brett can change his voice and his approach in over 150 different ways.  Accents, age and even personalities can all be mimicked or impersonated with the sort of speed most of us reserve for normal, everyday conversation.  As one of Brett's clients said … “he just knows his stuff so well and his ability to read people and situations to take the room to where they need to go, is just awesome!"

Presentations

On Business
Brett draws upon his own extensive consulting experience across a broad range of industries to comment with hilarious insight on a multitude of business topics. Sales, management, leadership, teamwork and other topical business issues are laid bare by a wry wit and surprising examples of what you always knew to be true but were afraid to say out loud! Two Keynote presentations include:

‘In The Minds of Champions’
In every field of endeavour we have always heard about the “top two inches” being the difference between success and failure.  More than physical ability, skills, knowledge or aptitude it is the brain and how it works under pressure that ultimately makes the difference between champion and also-ran.  The question is… what is happening in the “top two inches”?

How does a champion think?

What goes through their mind before and during a challenge, compared to a regular person?

When two people are competing at the same level of skill, talent and experience this is what will separate the two at the end of the day.

But merely copying a champion will not get you there nor will simply embracing similar techniques.

There is more to being a champion than simply engaging in similar behaviour.  How does the champion know what behaviour is the right one for them?  How does the champion know what technique is the correct one to employ?  How does the champion know in what field they can excel?  Why do they seem to get so much right where many of us seem only capable of getting so much wrong?  The answers are not found in any examination of those techniques, behaviours or choices; the answers are found in the thinking that goes on behind them – the top two inches.

Most champions’ thought patterns are characterised by 4 key components that separate them from the masses.  What is surprising is that three of them are common to the masses and crucial in achieving any kind of success whether it is sporting, business or life.  It is only when combined with the elusive fourth quality that a champion is born!

“In The Minds of Champions” is an entertaining and authoritative presentation that delves in to the top two inches of the worlds best performers and reveals the 4 key components that drive their success while examining the links to performance, leadership and management.

‘The Business of Like-Minded People’
We call them Stakeholders.  The strange beings that populate the business environment are Stakeholders and we are all card-carrying members of this group.  We are told we are important, even vital to the success of every organization.  Even though we are all members of the same group we contribute differently and are given different labels to reflect that unique contribution.  Some of us are Customers while some of us are Clients.  Some of us are Employees while some of us are Contractors.  Some of us are Suppliers while some of us are Business Partners.  Some of us are Shareholders while some of us are Investors.  Some of us are Managers while some of us are Leaders.  We are told how important these distinctions are and we are told that no matter which end of the Stakeholder spectrum we come from every business and organization exists to make us happy.

But it’s complicated.

Stakeholders are difficult beasts.  Our aims differ.  Our demands differ.  Our motivations differ and our expectations of every business enterprise and what it should do to make us happy differ.

That is what accepted wisdom tells us and in doing so accepted wisdom ignores a fundamental truth.  Stakeholders are nothing more than the group formerly known as People.  More specifically Stakeholders are the group henceforth known as Like-Minded People.

Like-Minded People are not complicated at all.  Sure, we have disagreements but because we agree on what is important in business we know how to resolve them.  Our expectations of every business enterprise are the same and while we recognize that we contribute differently our aims are the same.  We work together.  We have shared purpose.  We are Like-Minded People.

Wherever Like-Minded People are not present you will find business failure.  You will find people who cannot work together, who do not have shared purpose, whose aims, demands, motivations and expectations differ.

This presentation addresses all of these situations by pinpointing the cause of all organizational failure – the lack of Like-Minded People.  The inability of so many businesses to sustain a nucleus of shared purpose and vision among its key people is exactly why they fail.  The ability of others to foster an environment where the fundamentals of doing business are agreed upon and strictly enforced is exactly why they succeed.

It is not complicated and it is not difficult.

It will change the way you think and it will help you to be successful.

It is “The Business of Like-Minded People”.
