Life was pretty good for Jason - from a self employed aubergine grower to playing professional rugby for Northland, Waikato Chiefs, Llanelli Rugby Club in Wales and finally Super 12 with the Blues until he broke his neck in a scrum and everything changed.
Jason was actually lucky to be alive as the injury he had sustained had a clear outcome - either life or death. He spent three difficult and painful months wearing a head and neck brace while he underwent a tough rehabilitation programme
With the support of family and friends Jason slowly made a remarkable recovery to embark on the next chapter of his life when he graduated from Police College after 19 weeks of intense training – a test that his body would hold up and his neck had well and truly healed.
It was during his police training that Jason discovered he was dyslexic and why he had struggled to learn at times – this made him all the more determined to succeed.
Just as Jason was getting his life back together and he was enjoying being a “home town” policeman, he began experiencing headaches, dizziness and numbness.
A trip to the Hospital revealed the need for life threatening brain surgery and he was told he was going to die. But Jason chose to live and went ahead with the surgery believing that he would be able to get through once again if he focused on living.
Jason shares the highs and lows of challenging himself in an inspiring and entertaining presentation. He challenges you to be better and to be more than you are today.
