Clare is a professional speaker, trainer and consultant on business, economics and the environment and how a focus on environmental matters can transform any business into a learning – and more profitable – organisation.
|
Many years of experience with resource efficiency and waste minimization for manufacturers and environmental controls on big earthworks sites have convinced her that environmental innovation leads to increased levels of productivity, staff and customer satisfaction, smarter and more cost-effective supply chains and higher profits.
Through her speaking and writing, Clare is now taking this message out to a wider community. She has a fund of hilarious anecdotes to illustrate practical steps that will add value to the bottom line of any organization.
Growing up in the Bay of Plenty gave Clare a love of the natural environment that saw her unhesitatingly move into an environmental career. Three years of university work in Australia and New Zealand after gaining her Masters degree gave her a solid academic training. Together with the following twelve years experience in water and soil management for regional government and over fifteen years as an independent consultant, this has enabled Clare to develop an in-depth knowledge and understanding of a wide range of environmental issues.
Clare has worked with people at all levels, from factory shop-floor to boardroom, contractor to volunteers and with sectors as diverse as central, regional and local government, farming, iwi, manufacturing and water supply, stormwater and sewerage utilities.
Passion, humour, in-depth knowledge and a wealth of anecdote make her an engaging speaker in all forums, who can inspire her audiences to see the world in a way that empowers them to take practical steps towards better business, a healthier environment and a happier global community.
Clare sees herself as a business strategist: her take on the environment is that it’s one of the many aspects of running a business that can act as a catalyst for positive change.
Clare is an award winning speaker - she won the 2009 National Speakers Assoc Auck "Bright Star" award which recognises a new member of the Auckland Chapter who shines on the platform and exemplifies the ethics and qualities of the speaking profession.
Also in 2009 Clare jointly received (with Brian Handyside) the "Outstanding Contribution Award" from the NZ Assoc of Resource Management. This award recognises special contribution to resource maangement in NZ that significantly promotes the philosophy, science or practice of resource management.

"The environment or your business: what's at risk?"
How this keynote will help your organisation reduce risk and increase profit!
Most environmental assessments look at risks businesses pose to the environment. This keynote looks at the risk the environment poses to your business.
Aimed at an audience who want to take action on the many dimensions of risk that face businesses in today's complex world, this more focused keynote explores our perceptions of risk and the balance that businesses need to strike between stagnation and foolhardiness.
The prudent risk manager understands the need for creativity as well as caution. The keynote outlines the risks posed to the viability of any business by poor management of the environment, its people and procedures, the laws and contracts that govern its work and the responses of the finance and insurance sectors to environmental non-compliance.
Using many real life examples drawn from 15 years experience with training in the land development, construction, utilities and manufacturing sectors, it also shows how each of these aspects presents opportunities for business development.
