Shaun Quincey was the first to row the world's most dangerous ocean solo from Australia to NZ and pitted himself against the elements- he shares the physical and mental challenges of pushing himself to the limits!

Inspirational Shaun (better known as the Tasman Trespasser) was born in an Army Jungle hospital in Singapore where his Father was based with the Royal New Zealand Navy. Shaun then moved to New Zealand to the Waiouru Army Camp at the age of 2 yrs and lived there while his father was involved in a communications program.

At aged 4 yrs Shaun moved to Auckland where his father was based with the Navy. Shaun was always involved with sport playing soccer and Rugby for North Shore Rugby Club. Rugby was to rule his life for 18 years and he made the first XV at the age of 14 yrs and played in various age group teams while growing up.

At Takapuna Grammar School Shaun took up rowing - this provided the stepping stones to Surf Boat Rowing and eventually the Tasman Sea. As well as preparing for the Tasman Crossing, Shaun studied for his Masters in Business Administration (MBA)after working in business development and advertising for a few years and he also developed and sold his own successful business.

In 1977 Colin Quincey (Shaun’s father) became the first man to row Solo from New Zealand to Australia taking a grueling 63 days and 7 hours. Until 2009 Colin was still the only man to successfully have crossed the Tasman Sea solo from New Zealand to Australia. In March 2010 Shaun stepped up to be the second man in history and first to row from Australia to New Zealand to conquer the Tasman Sea.

Shaun’s epic voyage took 2 years of planning and 54 Days of rowing in the world’s most dangerous ocean departing from Coffs Harbor and narrowly hitting the northern tip of ninety mile beach. He's written about his incredible story in his book titled "The Tasman Trespasser" - he pitted himself against the elements and shares the physical and mental challenges of pushing himself to the limits.

In the 2011 New Year Honours Shaun Quincey was awarded Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit "for services to long distance rowing" in recognition of his incredible journey.

As well as telling the tales of the Tasman supported with dynamic audio visual content from the expedition, Shaun can tailor his presentation to focus on the key messages your function is based around. He's an inspiring, down to earth speaker with a great sense of humour and an excellent story to tell!

Shaun had the audience of the edge of their seats.  He followed the brief to the letter and he was such a hit that there could only be one outcome… Excellent!  What a great guy and a professional speaker.
