A top NZ comedy performer, Mike King has a new polished style makes him the perfect blend for both corporate and business audiences!
|
Forget everything you’ve ever heard about Mike King because he’s a new man and his relaxed new polished style will blow you away!
COMEDIAN
Mike King has always been one of New Zealand’s most popular and well known comedians. With more than 16 years at the top of the game he became famous for his candid, 'no holds barred' style of comedy that would often leave audiences rolling in the aisles and gasping for air. He was a man who took big risks with his comedy and took even bigger risks with his lifestyle.
Right from primary school, Mike knew he was a funny guy. After leaving school he started an apprenticeship as a chef and while working for one of New Zealand's first licensed restaurant chains, he saw Billy T James perform - a performer who provided him with a huge source of inspiration.
Mike completed three national tours of New Zealand in a variety of shows – he’s been voted Comedian of the Year twice; People’s Choice award 3 consecutive years; invited to perform at Australian and Canadian comedy festivals and he has also performed in London and Amsterdam.
INSPIRATIONAL SPEAKER
In January 2007 a near fatal stroke turned Mike’s entire world upside down and brought about some major lifestyle changes. “In hindsight the stroke was the best thing that ever happened to me, it made me realise that there is more to life than wild parties and self indulgence. I had become swept up in the whole ‘fame game’ and I had completely lost sight of the things that are most important in life, things like family and friends... especially family.”
Thus Mike started on his long road to recovery that concluded with him sharing his story of addiction and depression with New Zealand in September 2009. Clean, sober and nicotine free since April 1st 2007, Mike now dedicates his time to helping others with Mental Health and Addiction issues.
In 2009 he pioneered an inspirational weekly radio show that he fondly called ‘The Nutters Club’ which has blossomed into a weekly Television series and an online peer support group with over 6,000 members. “The Nutters Club is a place where people can share their stories without being judged, and in doing so, they let other people with similar issues know that they are not alone. Sharing my story is part of what I do in my motivational presentations and it never ceases to amaze me how many people it resonates with.”
MASTER OF CEREMONIES
As a Grand Master Of Ceremonies Mike King is your man. His friendly and engaging style of delivery, immediately relaxes the audience to ensure a positive outcome for your event. With hundreds of corporate events under his belt you can be assured that Mike is not only meticulous in his preparation and professional in his planning, but with all that experience he will read your audience like no one else in the business.
One of the biggest mistakes a Master Of Ceremonies can make is also one of the most common mistakes. They think that they are the star of the show and try to make it all about ‘them’. When Mike is your MC he makes it his job to ensure that everyone who joins him on stage is the true star of the evening. No detail is too big, and no detail is too small when he is hosting your event. It is the little things that make a big difference towards the success of your evening and with Mike King you are already more than halfway there!
He has learnt from experience that every speaker has last minute changes that they would like to make, but are often too nervous to ask. So before the show he talks to all the speakers going over anything they may want altered. “I like to make sure everyone is as relaxed as they can be before they give their presentation and that they are happy with how they are being introduced. It also gives me a chance to check their height so I can make the necessary microphone adjustment once I have introduced them.” It is that eye for detail that sets Mike apart from the pack!
As an inspirational speaker, stand-up comedian, after dinner entertainer and MC, Mike King is undoubtedly one of NZ's best, and his new polished style makes him the perfect blend for both corporate and business audiences.

Testimonials
Despite our reservations which were expressed prior to the evening, Mike did a brilliant job as MC! I received many positive comments about him on the evening and, have no hesitation in recommending him as a speaker/entertainer. He was a gentleman to deal with and I made absolute certain that I had a photo with him!

We would like to express the pleasure of having engaged Mike King as the guest speaker for the Southland 'Tradequal' trades graduation evening. His entertainment and personality factors were the draw card to consider him as the speaker but we were aware that some content and language used by Mike in public performances would not necessarily be acceptable to our audience or sponsors so we had some reservations which we expressed prior to the engagement.
There is no question of him having been a hit and living up to any high expectations and requests that we had placed on him. We found Mike to be extremely professional in his preparation and understanding of the event and in the delivery of his role. He could be described as a gentleman to deal with and in the way he interacted with the audience before, during and after his presentation.
Mike was approached by a number of people from all 'walks' wanting to meet and thank him for his inspiration and in all cases he gave his personal attention. We have had many positive comments about him and have great pleasure in recommending him as a speaker, entertainer. It was a pleasure to have had him at our event.
Richard Hay, JP. C.E.O. - Chamber of Commerce Southland

What a great speaker Mike King is. He spoke about his motorbike accident and stroke and got his point across of 'live today for today' and you could see that people were thinking hard about this afterwards. It was a rewarding presentation - what a nice guy!
Diane Gower - NZ Parking Association
Mike was fantastic! He read the audience right from the beginning of the event and couldn't have been better. He is extremely professional and friendly and confirmed and followed up on the booking right up until the event!
